ENG - Stop - Site Furniture Project
The Architectural Engineering Competition challenged students to design a piece of site furniture for the campus using cardboard and hydrostone. A key requirement was ensuring the design supported people with accessibility needs.
Applied the concepts we learned during Engineering Design Days throughout our design and build process
Used AutoCAD to create sections, elevations, plans, and detailed drawings, complete with labels, dimensions, construction notes, and tags
Used line weights, dashed lines, and hatching more effectively to show depth, hidden elements, and solid forms
Collected materials to build the model of the site furniture with engineering skills
Consulted with instructors and industry professionals throughout the project to refine our ideas
Presented our final printed designs and physical model to a panel of judges
Although our design didn’t receive an award, the experience was incredibly valuable. I helped develop a furniture design that serves a diverse range of users, gained confidence in construction notation, and learned to use AutoCAD more efficiently. Throughout the process, I also learned how to collaborate effectively, communicate ideas clearly, and work toward practical, user-focused solutions.
